I was involved in several toxic groupchats in the past.

The platform that I used allowed for certain people to have more permissions; such as muting people and changing nicknames compared to other similar sites.

This led to me and my friends being picked on by the others in the groups, with nicknames being changed to inappropriate things and people using their permissions to bully us.

As a result of this I felt I had to remove myself from the situation, which I was scared to do because I was worried about the bullying moving to another platform.

However on other platforms I had the power to block and report the bullies which greatly helped my mental health, as I no longer had to focus on preventing myself from being hurt.

If you find yourself in a similar position, I would recommend removing yourself from the toxic chat or taking a break from social media, or just the platform. Remember that you can always come back when you feel ready!
